Dana Stangel-Plowe brings to Oak Rose Group a wealth of experience in education, advocacy, and organizational management. Her career reflects a deep commitment to intellectual freedom, principled leadership, and the power of ideas to foster human flourishing.

Before joining ORG, Dana held leadership roles at the Foundation Against Intolerance and Racism (FAIR), a non-profit civil rights organization that promotes free speech, equal protection, and other fundamental civil rights. As Chief Program Officer and Managing Director of Education and then Interim Program Manager for FAIR’s fiscal sponsor, Dana provided strategic leadership across the organization, spearheaded initiatives to promote education rooted in shared values across differences, and played a key role in shaping the organization’s balanced voice and nuanced approach to contentious issues.

Dana also spent more than 14 years as an educator, during which she taught at a Catholic high school, an independent K-12 school, and a youth Shakespeare drama program. Prior to her career in education, Dana worked as a law associate in the litigation department at Debevoise & Plimpton in New York. She also served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Barbara S. Jones (retired) in the Southern District of New York.

Dana received an undergraduate degree from Cornell University, a law degree from the George Washington Law School where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review, and a master’s degree in creative writing from New York University. Dana lives with her husband in New Hampshire, where she enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time with her family.
